Wanda J. White Obituary: Oshkosh Native and Former Radio Personality “Holly Michaels” Remembered for Her Warmth and Love of Reba

Wanda J. White, a longtime Oshkosh, Wisconsin resident and former radio personality known to many listeners as “Holly Michaels,” passed away peacefully at her home on June 13, 2026, at the age of 61, surrounded by her loved ones. Her passing has left family, friends, and members of the Oshkosh community grieving the loss of a woman remembered for her warmth, humor, and genuine connection to the people around her.

Born on September 24, 1964, in Oshkosh to William and Barbara Colburn White, Wanda spent nearly her entire life in the community she loved. She graduated from Oshkosh North High School in 1983 and later earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, building a foundation for a life filled with creativity, communication, and service.

Wanda began her professional journey in radio broadcasting, where she became known to audiences under the name “Holly Michaels.” Her voice reached listeners across several stations, including WOSH, WYNE/WROE, and WPKR in Oshkosh, as well as WMYX in Milwaukee. Colleagues and listeners alike remember her for her engaging personality, professionalism, and ability to make people feel like they were speaking with a trusted friend. Her time in radio left a lasting mark on local broadcasting and on those who tuned in regularly.

After her years in radio, Wanda remained a familiar and beloved presence in Oshkosh, working at the downtown YMCA. There, she was known not only for her dedication to her work but also for her friendliness and approachable nature. Many who encountered her at the front desk recall her kindness and her unmistakable enthusiasm for life. She was especially known for her love of country music legend Reba McEntire, often wearing Reba merchandise and proudly sharing her admiration for the artist who brought her so much joy.

Beyond her professional life, Wanda found happiness in athletics and community engagement. She enjoyed playing tennis, racquetball, and pickleball, embracing competition and camaraderie with equal enthusiasm. Her active spirit and positive outlook made her a valued friend and teammate to many.

Wanda is survived by her mother, Barbara; her brother Kevin (Cindy Hayman) White; extended family members including aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a wide circle of friends who will miss her deeply. The family has expressed gratitude for the care and compassion shown by hospice staff, medical providers, and YMCA colleagues during her final days.

A visitation and funeral service will be held on June 30, 2026, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home Eastside in Oshkosh, followed by burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Wanda J. White will be remembered for her kindness, her voice that once reached countless listeners, and her enduring love for music, community, and the people she held dear.
